February 21, 2003 CONTACT: Keith Taylor, (757) 253-6607 JAMES CITY COUNTY, Virginia - The James City County Economic Development Authority held elections for 2003 officers at its January meeting. Vincent A. Campana, Jr., was elected as this year's Chair and Virginia B. Hartmann was elected as this year's Vice Chair. Keith A. Taylor, the County's Economic Development Director, will serve as EDA Secretary, and Ann Davis, the County's Treasurer, will serve as EDA Treasurer. Campana, Director of Drucker & Falk's Virginia Commercial Sales and Leasing Division, brings a wealth of experience to the Chairmanship. He has served on the EDA since 1994 and previously served as Vice Chair in 1999 and 2002. Campana has been active on the EDA, serving as the EDA's Technology Initiatives Liaison, liaison to the group's shell building project, the EDA's James River Enterprise Zone Advisory Board Member as well as the EDA's James River Commerce Center Architectural Review Board Member. He is a native of the Williamsburg area and a graduate of Old Dominion University. Hartmann, who is President of the Williamsburg Soap and Candle Company, was appointed to the EDA in 2000. Since her appointment, she has been an active member of the EDA, serving as the 2001 Secondary Schools Program Focus Group Liaison as well as the 2002 Comprehensive Plan/Planning Commission co-liaison. Hartmann is active in other community organizations, serving on the Boards of the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way. The Economic Development Authority is composed of seven directors, who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and serve staggered four-year terms. The organization's purpose is to assist the County and its Office of Economic Development in expanding James City County's business tax base. |
