The company expects to invest over $15 million in the project and to employ approximately 120 people there, with payroll at this location being approximately $2.6 million annually. The actual date that construction is expected to begin has not been set as of this date. The site's accessibility to Interstate 64 was a critical factor in the Haynes' decision-making process. Wayne Hutnick, Haynes Senior Vice President, COO, and CFO, said, "Our new GreenMount location will allow us to implement a major change in our corporate logistics strategy. The net benefit will be improved service to our central and southeastern Virginia customers, as well as our northeastern North Carolina market." Bruce Goodson, Board of Supervisors' Vice Chair and the representative of the Roberts District in James City County, in which the project is located, commented, "We welcome Haynes and look forward to their becoming part of our growing and diversifying business base. Their decision is a good example of why having large, zoned industrial parcels available is important to the success of our economic development and job creation program." "Once again the James River Enterprise Zone has served as an effective attractor of industry", noted Economic Development Authority (EDA) Chairman Vincent Campana Jr. "Locating in the Enterprise Zone will enable Haynes to start construction quickly, in addition to receiving other Enterprise Zone incentives through the County's EDA." GreenMount is an 800-acre general industrial park in the southeast corner of James City County. Haynes will be the second major occupant in the park, joining the two-million square foot Wal-Mart Import Distribution Center that opened there in 2000. James Tucker, Senior Advisor with Sperry Van Ness Commercial Real Estate Advisors, is the Exclusive Agent for the GreenMount Industrial Park and was the sole broker in the transaction. |
