AVID Medical, Inc., Breaks Ground

AVID Medical, Inc., a medical products packaging company coming to the Stonehouse Commerce Park in James City County, has broken ground on its 39,000-square foot building. The company expects to be in operation by the end of this year. It will employ 40 people initially and expects to employ up to 100 people within three years. The facility represents a $2.25 million capital investment. The plant will assemble sterile procedure-ready kits.

Michael Sahady, AVID Medical President, and Rick Setian, Chief Operating Officer, led a group of dignitaries and well-wishers in conducting the groundbreaking. Guests included members of the James City County Board of Supervisors, Economic Development Authority, and County staff. Other guests included representatives of Fjord Construction, Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler Realty, Mid-Atlantic Commercial Realty and the Peninsula Alliance for Economic Development.

Sahady noted that the park's excellent location to I-64, its upscale, high-tech look, and the reputation for quality enjoyed by the Williamsburg area were all factors in his decision to locate his plant at that particular site. He expects to begin hiring and training employees soon.
