EDA's Business Assistance Program
The Economic Development Authority (EDA) of James City County offers a business assistance program that provides a variety of services to qualified businesses. Under the program, the EDA offers assistance through an assortment of offerings from small grants to guidance with business planning or assistance with understanding processes and zoning in the County. The EDA does not guarantee assistance to every business that submits an application and evaluates each on a case-by-case basis. The grants portion of the program is subject to the availability of EDA budgeted funds.
The primary purpose of the James City County Business Assistance Program is to assist with the retention, expansion, relocation and development of smaller businesses in James City County. As an economic development tool for the County, the intent of the Business Assistance Program is to create and retain quality employment opportunities, retain and expand the tax base, and thereby retain and grow those preferred smaller businesses which possess the qualities and attributes set forth in the 2008 Business Climate Task Force report.
