Business & Technology Incubator

 

To encourage small business start-ups, James City County established a Business and Technology Incubator (JCCBTI), which provides office space and the College of William and Mary’s Technology and Business Center provides the overall management of the incubator.

The incubator offers all of the amenities of a standard office including:

• Reception, meeting and conference areas
• 24-hour access to furnished offices
• Telecommunications and printing infrastructure
• Permanent business mailing address
• Kitchen/break area
• Janitorial services
• Use of TBC facilities

The JCCBTI sets forth to achieve economic diversity through the growth and development of knowledge and technology based small or start-up businesses.  The JCCBTI supports its clients through a comprehensive business incubation program. The program includes:

• Assessment of the companies needs
• Establishment of and help with critical milestones
• Customized business development programs
• Direct business mentoring
• Access to professional service providers
• Facilitate relationship building through formal and informal networking
• Links to Mason School of Business professors and student interns
• Ongoing business education programs

The resources, support systems, mentoring, and safe-haven of the James City County-Technology and Business Center’s Business and Technology Incubator can help the entrepreneur put all the pieces together – and therefore greatly improving the opportunity to succeed. And, it is a well documented fact that businesses that participate in incubation programs have a far greater chance of success over those who are not engaged with incubation.
